Dixie is my “Bob Marley” Bride. I have known this Bride for many years and expected nothing less than the most fun, loving, and chill Bridal party! This beautiful and fun bride rolled up to our location with Dunkin Donuts and champagne for mimosas in hand; this is my kind of Bridal party!

For Dixie’s makeup, we worked with dark browns and gold/vanilla colored shimmers for her eyes. We swept the eyeshadow outward from her eyes to give her eyes a cat-eye appearance. This trick will make your eyes look more sleek and sexy! For lips, we used a deep berry color; this was perfect with her cat-eyed smoky eyeshadow.

The Maid of Honor for this Bride was a Bride that I had done earlier in my career. They were each other’s Maid of Honors! Talk about a cry session! For Brides and Bridal parties, work with waterproof mascara and eyeliner. If you’re not comfortable with putting liquid eyeliner on a client, use pencil or powder first, then go over that with the liquid liner. My favorite is Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner.

When using a dark lip color on Bride’s, be certain you go over the risks with them: the color could end up on teeth and clothes, it can be smudged and messed up easily, and it can be high maintenance on your wedding day. This Bride was very familiar with makeup, so we put a Bridesmaid on “Lipstick Patrol” to watch for smudging or any other problems and we kept rollin’! And it was totally worth it because the lips matched everything perfectly!

**PRO TIP: If you’re using a dark color on a client, be certain to line the lips with a lipstick pencil and use a liquid lipstick as the main color. This will make the lipstick harder to move or smudge throughout the day.**

My Bob Marley Bride was so relaxed and comfortable on her wedding day. She was singing and laughing all morning while we got ready, and her Bridesmaids were so happy to be there with her! Anyone would be happy with donuts and mimosas, but when you get them on your wedding day and all your best friends are with you, it’s a moment in time Brides remember forever.
