Taylor N. : My Southern Bell Bride (Party of 7)
Taylor N. is my “Southern Bell Bride” because she showed every ounce of southern charm on her wedding day! We watched football and were surrounded by this Bride’s closest friends and family while getting hair and makeup done. They had finger food and sweet tea and swapped funny stories from the past before leaving for photos- what’s more southern comfort than friends, food, and football?
This Bride wanted to SHINE. We worked with Morphe’s Jaclyn Hill Palette and used the cream and vanilla foil eye shadows to make her eyes glow and sparkle. For her lashes, we used a natural and short, but thick lash to make her eyes pop. The lashes we used had a thick black band so we opted out of eyeliner. As a Bridal Makeup Artist, I often find myself skipping top eyeliner on Brides because of tears being shed and sweat from outside photos and dancing; avoid a mess and go eyeliner-less!
**PRO TIP: Less is more on your wedding day! A good MUA can glam you up while still holding tight to your natural beauty. After all, makeup is used to enhance your natural beauty and good features. You will be happy in 10, 35, and 50 years when you look back at your photos and you look like you! And your partner will too!
Because my Southern Bell Bride was getting married and taking photos outside, we needed everyone’s makeup to stay put all night long. For Bridal parties, we are looking at a 12 hour or more day, so the makeup needs to be tear, sweat, dance, hugs & kisses proof! Reach for a high-end, matifying foundation on Bridal party clients. High-end foundation will last longer because it uses better ingredients and matte foundation will last longer because it has less SPF and oil in it. Put these two qualities together and we will see a non-budging makeup look that lasts all night.
When using a matte foundation, prep the skin with matte primer on the entire face, then add a light layer of illuminating primer where you want it (top of cheek bones, tip of nose, cupid’s bow). This will give the Bride an inner glow, but not make her skin look oily. Estee Lauder’s “The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer + Finisher” is my go-to for a subtle, natural, angelic glow for Brides! Press this product in with a damp sponge or warm fingers after foundation but before powder.
**PRO TIP: Matify the skin and then place a highlighter where you want it.
Being a part of Taylor’s big day was such a pleasure. Her Bridal party was so easy going and joyful. Growing up Southern, it made me feel at home and comfortable while doing everyone’s makeup. Taylor, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. I hope you have a lifetime of happiness with your new husband!
